Hard Times with a Dash of Holistic Healing for the Win

Published by Brooke Aichroth on

This past year has been incredibly taxing on the human psyche. A global pandemic has forced us out of our comfort zones and time to be patient and reflect. The natural comforts of freedom have been taken away. Political views have brought in so much anger, division, judgement, shame and fear. The earth is in an intense state of inflammation with rising temperatures, droughts, fires, various natural disasters and war. Some humans are at the forefront of greed, harsh truths being exposed, power struggles and destruction. The universal order is now experiencing a major shift that is taking place right before our eyes.

We all have our limit to how much we can mentally and physically handle in our day to day lives. Some of us take on too much stress with working hard, some get stuck in the web of mundane routines not serving them, some are experiencing intense emotional pain, others are ignoring their negative patterns and doing anything to keep busy and not acknowledge the issues that are meant to be addressed. As the universe goes through a period of destruction, growth and change there are tremendous shifts afoot. Some of us feel the changes within ourselves, others are tapping into the universal energy, and then we have the lucky group that feels it from ALL ends. What a time to be alive! However, HOPE prevails. It’s always there- even through the darkest of times.

When I was forced to develop a holistic approach to my healing journey everything changed. The more I tapped into healthy habits, the more the universe brought me abundance. The more I would tune out the outside forces of negative people, patterns and thoughts, the more rewards I received. You don’t have to be a part of any group or religion to incorporate holistic practices into your everyday life. You just have to be a human being alive right now. Mental health is EVERYTHING in terms of healing. Always. The work I do doesn’t just focus on using herbs or Reiki to heal- it’s looking at the human body and experience as a WHOLE (hence HOL-istic health). If your mental health is in need of attention you need a holistic lifestyle. Yes, herbs and Reiki are an amazing piece to the puzzle. They DO work and they do show positive results. However, depending on your situation, there’s no one herb fits all approach. Oftentimes, people need more than that. That’s why learning ways to manage stress and take care of our mental health first and foremost is the beginning of the process. Through my many years of experience, education and client work- stress management is always step number one. ESPECIALLY after the year we all have experienced. Just being alive right now can be very stressful for many people. I have learned and incorporated many tools for managing stress over the years and it is an absolute joy to share them with clients. In herbal consultation sessions, a client receives tools for mental health, nutrition (specifically designed for an individuals unique constitution), sleep assistance, suggested exercise routines, and of course, Reiki. This system is designed for success but you can incorporate small steps on your own.

Whenever you feel your mental threshold becoming to be too much, get outside. Take a time out from your work, your kids, your screen, your negative habits, your distractions and tune into the healing power of nature. Just going on a quiet hike in the woods, be by water, or sit under a tree and imagining your feet connecting with its roots. These easy steps can work wonders for a mental reset. Nature is incredibly intelligent and it is always here to assist us in healing. The more we ground our energy in nature, the clearer the fog becomes. The more we connect with earth, acknowledge it, appreciate it and send gratitude to this planet, the more it will heal and we will experience that same healing within us. We are all part of the same organism. We’re all here together- for better or worse.

There are ways to work through our struggles and our differences. There are ways to work with our addictions. There are ways to work with our mental illness. There are light workers and ground workers and those of us ready, willing and able to assist. Turn to those people when your light starts to dim. Reach out and connect with others when you are in the deepest depths of despair. Nature is here to heal and so am I. I’m forever grateful and honored to do this work. Cheers to holistic health and warm wishes to healing.
